Q&A’s
In relation to the “pre-cut cleanup” and the time in which work will actually begin, what will be done with the grass in the meantime?
As per Schedule: “The Township of Chapple reserves the right to adjust the frequency of cutting as it deems necessary.”
Does this include the cleanup of rock and gravel displaced during the winter season as well as all the other messes created during the off season?
This does NOT include the cleanup of rock and gravel from winter snow removal or for broken limbs during the winter months. Initial Spring clean up with be completed by Public Works.
Does this include ALL of the listed structures, sidewalk and all its features even if they are not marked on the maps provided?
Sidewalks and all its features are not included as a structure in tender package and will be the responsibility of Public Works.
Is this something that may also be included with the tender?
Sidewalks are not included with the tender.
Cutting areas:
How is a contractor expected to manage zones that are not separated by area of growth, given that areas with very different grass growth rates—such as Zone D, which includes both the fast-growing field north of the Town Hall and the slower-growing trailer area—are grouped together, making it difficult to price them in a way that saves the town money?
See Schedule: “All areas are to be cut and trimmed as needed, weather permitting.” The word weekly has been removed from the tender package so if the grass in one area is equal to or more than 4 inches in height it should be cut as well as areas where the grass is less than 4 inches then the grass will not need to be cut.
How should a contractor deal with Zone F, for safety reasons, given that the hill on the north end is too steep to be safely cut with a tractor and instead requires weed trimming, while the flat area needs more frequent cutting and should therefore be billed separately?
Schedule A allows the contractor to put an hourly rate for labour and equipment, feel free to include the hourly rate for weed whacking vs driving a lawn mower especially in areas that may need more labour intensive cutting.
Is the road going to the riverfront pavilion something the contractor is expected to maintain this year?
The unopened road allowance that goes to the riverfront pavilion is not included in this tender.
In previous years the trimming for J(ii) was not the responsibility of the contractor to trim around the equipment on the east side of the property. Is this something the town would like to have done?
Trimming around the equipment on the east side of the property is not included in this tender.
Tender Formatting:
Can the contractor provide a separate price for trimming?
Feel free to include your hourly rate for trimming.
Can the contractor send in my tender showing the cost of mowing for each zone and a separate cost of trimming for each zone?
An equipment list can also be given showing the value of each?
To ensure that we can compare fairly to others who submit tenders we would prefer you use Schedule A to submit your costs.
Can the contractor provide a separate rate for cleaning up displaced gravel.
This is not part of the tender.
Could you please clarify how the grass tender chart should be completed—specifically, whether you are requesting a consistent hourly rate for labour and equipment across all lots, or a total cost per lot along with separate hourly rates?
We are looking for an hourly rate for labour and equipment. If the rate will be the same for all lots, then it would be acceptable to note that your hourly rate for labour and equipment is the same for all lots listed in the tender.
